It’s a whole thing trying to find the *perfect* way to hard boil eggs, right?!
Well, I got you!
This recipe call for 6 eggs, but really this recipe works for as few or as many as you can fit in one layer in pot without being super touchy-touchy to each other.
Hardboiled Eggs Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
Directions
- Bring a pot of water, filled about a 1/3 of the way, to a full boil on stovetop (choose your size according to # of eggs you’ll boil – i.e., 2.5 qt for 6 eggs).
- Gently lower 6 eggs into boiling water. I do this one at a time, using a slotted spoon.
- Boil for 30 seconds, then turn burner to the lowest setting.
- Cover pot and simmer (super gently, not a rolling simmer) 13 mins.
- When you’re getting close to the time, choose a bowl of an appropriate size to fit your eggs, fill with cold water, and add lots of ice.
- Remove egg pot from heat and transfer eggs to ice bath, one by one, using a slotted spoon.
- Leave the eggs in the ice bath for 15 mins.
- Remove from ice bath, one by one, using slotted spoon and place on paper towels to dry (I like to place paper towels on top of an egg carton and then I use those to dry the eggs, put in carton, and move to fridge).
- To peel, gently tap the egg at the big end first, then the small end, then tap all around to gently crack the shell then remove shell.
