These Baked Cajun Fries turned out perfectly! 🤤

The attempt to get something similar to @raisingcanes sauce… not so much. ☹️ Too much ketchup and not enough spice. But, it still gave a cool complement to the fries.

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes (about 2 large)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Cajun Seasoning
Directions
  1. Wash and scrub 2 large Russet potatoes.
  2. Cut potatoes into about 1/4″ slices. Think “French fry” size. See top right pic above for suggested cutting steps.
  3. Immerse cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water then move to refrigerator to soak for 1 hr.
  4. Line an extra large baking sheet with parchment paper then set aside.
  5. About 55 mins into soaking potato slices, preheat oven to 350◦ F.
  6. Drain soaked potato slices, then transfer to a clean dish towel. Using a second dish towel, pat the drained potato slices as dry as you can get them.
  7. In a gallon-size Ziplock bag, toss patted dry potato slices in 1 1/2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil and 1 1/2 Tbsp Cajun seasoning until well-coated.
  8. Spread seasoned potato slices on prepared baking sheet in one layer.
  9. Bake for 20 mins, then remove from oven and increase oven temp to 450◦ F.
  10. Shuffle fries around on baking sheet, again ensuring they’re in one layer before returning to oven.
  11. Bake for 25 more mins.
