Our take on Stonefire Grill‘s BBQ Chopped (with Tri Tip).
This was definitely a joint effort. Hubby manned the grill for the tri tip and corn and expertly sliced up that tri tip after.

BBQ Tri Tip Chop Salad Recipe

Ingredients
- 1/2 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
- 1/2 head romaine lettuce, chopped
- 1 cup cooked and drained black beans (canned)
- 2 ears fresh corn, cooked and corn kernels removed
- 3/4 cup chopped red cabbage
- 3/4 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup Monterey Jack shredded cheese
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups chopped grilled tri tip (seasoned w/ Montreal Steak seasoning), tossed with 1 1/2 tsp BBQ sauce
- 3 Tbsp green onions, chopped
- 3 Tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 cup crumbled tortilla chips/strips
- 1 cup buttermilk ranch dressing
- 3 Tbsp BBQ sauce
Directions
- Toss together 1/2 head chopped iceberg and 1/2 head chopped romaine in a large bowl.
- Place 1 cup beans, corn kernels, 3/4 cup cabbage, 3/4 cup carrots, 1/2 cup cheese, and chopped tomato in sections atop lettuce in wedges like a wheel.
- Pile 1 1/2 cups tri tip tossed in BBQ sauce in center.
- Chill until serving time.
- Just before serving, sprinkle with 3 Tbsp green onions, 3 Tbsp cilantro, and 1 cup tortilla strips.
- In a small bowl, blend 1 cup ranch with 3 Tbsp BBQ sauce.
- Toss salad in dressing.
