This one is delicioso!!!
I made this recipe as double initially b/c I was cooking to meal prep for 2 households that day so it took my Instant Pot a beat (maybe 25 mins!) to build pressure. Was certain for a min that I’d already managed to break it. 🤣 I googled and watched a video to realize it was the 64 oz of frozen beans causing the delay!!!
You can really use any similar sausage that you like – we just prefer turkey!
Though leftovers will keep in the fridge for a bit, the beans get mushier w/ reheating. I personally didn’t mind that, but others may…
This recipe MAY be considered Paleo by some as green beans, though they’re legumes, fall into a Paleo gray zone b/c they don’t contain many anti-nutrients. Whichever side of the coin you choose, you do you!

Ingredients
- 2 (16 oz) packages frozen green beans
- 1 (13 oz) Hillshire Farms Turkey Smoked Sausage, sliced into rounds
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 tsp Herbed Sea Salt (see my Herbed Sea Salt recipe)
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Directions
- Place ingredients in the Instant Pot’s inner pot, layering in following order: 2 – 16 oz packages frozen beans, sliced 13 oz sausage, chopped 1/2 onion, 2 tsp Herbed Sea Salt, 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper, then 2 cups low sodium chicken broth. Avoid the urge to stir!
- Close lid and set steam vent to SEAL.
- Select PRESSURE COOK (or MANUAL) for 6 mins.
- When cooking cycle is finished, perform a quick release method by setting steam vent to VENT to let off the steam quickly.
- When the pressure pin drops, remove the lid (facing away from you).
- Give a few gentle stirs to combine, then transfer (except for remaining broth) to serving bowl(s).
