My sister couldn’t join us for TDay in Central CA so she asked for a do-over in early Dec. She and I both contributed food and gathered with my parents for a good time of visiting, gnom gnom, and XMas tree decorating. 🥘🫂🎄

One of my contributions was my favorite cranberry sauce, crafted from a spiced orange version some years ago.

I love this stuff! I put it on *everything*: TDay meats (ham, turkey), mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes (unless they have marshmallows on top), and stuffing.

TIPS: I like to make the night before needed so that it really cools/gels overnight in the fridge.

Jamaican Cranberry Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Tbsp orange zest
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
  1. Add 2 lbs cranberries, 2 Tbsp zest, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 2 cups juice, 2 cups brown sugar, and 2 cups water in a large skillet on stovetop.
  2. Stir all together a bit then bring to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, turn down heat and simmer for about 75 mins, until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally to prevent from sticking to the bottom.
  4. Allow to cool for about 15 mins, then refrigerate in an airtight container.
