Smoky Garlic Cheese Tilapia

Hubby normally grills the fish we eat at home because he says he doesn’t successfully bake fish. And let me tell you he grills a mean salmon or tilapia filet! I tried my hand solo on this one. Hubby liked this one well enough.

Smoky Garlic Cheese Tilapia Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 (4 oz) tilapia filets
  • 16 Tbsp (1 cup + 2 Tbsp) grated Parmesan & Romano cheese blend
  • 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 3 *large* pinches (3/8 tsp) cumin
  • 3 *large* pinches (3/8 tsp) paprika
  • 3 *regular* pinches (3/16 tsp) freshly ground black pepper
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 425° F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper then set aside.
  3. On a plate, whisk together 16 Tbsp grated Parmesan & Romano cheese blend, 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 3/4 tsp onion powder, 3 large *pinches* (3/8 tsp) cumin, and 3 large *pinches* (3/8 tsp) paprika.
  4. Drizzle tilapia filets with 3 Tbsp EVOO then season both sides with 3 large *pinches* (3/8 tsp) black pepper total.
  5. Press filets into cheese mixture, fully coating each filet then place each on baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15 mins, until tilapia flakes with a fork.
