Turkey Melt

My husband is the indoor grill master!! ♨️👑

IMO we’ve crafted another stellar creation for our meal rotation… 💫

Sourdough, roasted turkey, Swiss cheese, bacon, and tomatoes w/a sweet & tangy sauce grilled to perfection!

Happy bellies in the Powers clan tonight. 😋

If you’ve been around for a minute, you’ve heard that I don’t like mayo – then, you’ll notice I use it here. That’s b/c I finally found one that meets my requirements for ingredients, flavor, and texture!

  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 lb freshly cut deli sandwich sliced turkey
  • 8 freshly cut deli sandwich sliced Swiss cheese slices
  • 8 bacon slices, freshly cooked
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 8 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 4 Tbsp butter, divided
  • 4 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Directions
  1. In a small bowl, mix together 8 Tbsp mayo, 4 tsp balsamic vinegar, and 1/4 tsp ground black pepper then set aside.
  2. Butter the outside of each bread slice w/ 1 1/2 tsp of butter.
  3. Place one slice of bread (buttered side down) then layer in order: 2 Swiss cheese slices, 1/4 lb sliced turkey, 2 slices cooked bacon, then 1/2 of a sliced tomato.
  4. Spread 1/4 of mayo mixture on the unbuttered side of the second slice of bread then place on top of the tomato slices (buttered side up).
  5. Transfer the sandwich to the griddle and cook over medium low heat, until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown and the cheese is starting to melt.
  6. Flip sandwich on griddle and continue cooking over medium-low heat, until the top (now bottom) slice of bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Repeat Steps 3-6 for the remaining 3 sandwiches (unless your griddle is big enough to do them all at once!).
