Turkey Taco Filling

Ooh… Yum. 🌮🌮🌮

A spicy, tomato-y ground turkey mixture.

Served in flour flax seed tortillas stuffed w/ shredded Mexican Blend Cheese, sour cream, shredded lettuce, and diced Roma tomato is how we do it in my house.

My belly is ha-ppy!! 😋

TIP: If switching to 99% extra lean ground turkey, use at least the 1/3 cup of tomato sauce and up to a full 8 of can of it. If you use more than 1/3 cup, just summer for a few more minutes.

Turkey Taco Base Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb 99% lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1/3 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp Better Than Bouillon Premium Roasted Chicken Base
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
Directions
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat on stovetop.
  2. Add 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil and heat.
  3. Add diced 1/2 cup yellow onion and sauté, until onions are translucent.
  4. Add 2 tsp minced garlic and sauté for 30 secs then reduce heat to low.
  5. Stir in 1 Tbsp chili powder, 1 1/2 tsp Better Than Bouillon Premium Chicken Base, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, and 1/2 tsp dried oregano – until well-combined.
  6. Return heat to medium-high and add 1 lb 99% ground turkey and cook fully, breaking turkey into small pieces along the way.
  7. Stir in 1/3 cup tomato sauce and deglaze the bottom of your skillet (scraping any stuck parts) then simmer on low 5 mins.
  8. Remove from heat then serve.
